Flight Lima - Amsterdam, view in SE direction. This part of the Rhine-Meuse Estuary has been cut off from the North Sea by the Brouwersdam (part of the Delta Works) since 1971. However, the dam was later equipped with a sluice in order to preserve the salty character of the water body.
