The Teide Observatory consists of a number of telescopes installed near the Izaña mountain (2382 m), the first one in 1964. The usually clear skies provide excellent conditions for the observation of the sun and other astrophysical phenomena. Pico del Teide (3715 m) is shown in the background of the scene.
