Once having formed a separate island, the Teno mountains represent one of the oldest parts of Tenerife, and are characterized by deeply incised valleys (barrancos) and a broad variety of ecological niches. The rain-shaded W slopes are rather arid, and therefore characterized by widely spaced shrubs. Location: Mirador de Cherfe.
