View from the summit area of Cabeço Verde in W direction to Cabeço do Canto (347 m), overgrown with laurel forest. The Capelinhos peninsula appears in the background. It formed in 1957 and 1958 through an initially submarine eruption at the very W tip of the island, but has since then been reduced in size by coastal erosion.
