The historic centre of the provincial capital of Vorarlberg consists of an Upper and a Lower town. This photo shows the view from Martinsturm over the Upper town, founded around 1200 as a fortified settlement. It has preserved its medieval ambience, even though some of the buildings have been reconstructed in the late 19th century.
