Damülser Berge

WI_at001_11_113.jpg

Morning view from the summit area of Kanisfluh in SW direction to the Damüls mountains with Klippern (2066 m, left side) and Damülser Mittagsspitze (2095 m, right side). This part of the Damüls mountains consists of a mixture of massive limestone and darker and softer, more erodible marlstone, all of which formed at the N shelf of the Tethys ocean. This so-called Helvetic system is commonly exposed in Switzerland, but only found in the very W part of Austria.
