View along the crest of the Winterstaude mountain chain in E direction to the main summit (1877 m). This massif is composed of Cretaceous limestone of the Helvetic zone. Representing the sediments once deposited at the N shelf of the Tethys ocean, the Helvetic system is mostly exposed in Switzerland, and only in the very W of Austria.
