The Renaissance-style façade of this palace at Plaça de Sant Jaume in the Barri Gòtic dates back to around 1600, even though the building itself is of medieval origin. It hosts the Executive Council and the Presidency of Catalonia, and therefore serves as an important symbol for autonomy.
