The Port Vell Aerial Tramway connects the seaside with the slope of Montjuïc, supported by the 107 m high Torre Jaume I halfway (shown in the right central background). This tourist attraction opened in 1929, two years after the World's Fair for which it was originally intended. The original cabins were still in operation when this photo was taken.
