By the mid 2020s, Vukovar still has not fully recovered from the effects of the Croatian War of Independence and, particularly, the Battle of Vukovar in the early 1990s. There are, however, certain initiatives to make the town on the Danube more beautiful and liveable, such as this street art by Filip Mrvelj.
