WI_is055_508.jpg

View from Brennisteinsalda in NE direction over Laugahraun, a 15th century lava field. It consists of obsidian, a volcanic glass made of acidic rock, despite its dark colour. Landmannalaugar is located at the N side of Torfajökull, a major scene of acidic volcanism. Most of the activity took place during the Pleistocene.
