View from Leirhnjúkur over the NW part of the Krafla caldera. Located along the Mid Atlantic Ridge, this depression has a diameter of approx. 10 km. Much of the lava shown this picture goes back to the most recent eruptive phase, the "Krafla fires" in 1975-1984.
