View from Hverfjall in SW direction to Mývatn, dammed by a volcanic eruption 2300 years ago. The craters forming an island in the lake did not form directly through volcanic eruptions. Instead, they are the result of explosions caused by the interaction of hot lava with water. Therefore, they are classified as pseudocraters.
