Skötufjörður is one of the various branches of Ísafjarðardjúp making the drive on Road 61 to Ísafjörður a lengthy journey. This type of fjord landscape is typical for those parts of Iceland where volcanic activity has ceased long ago and Pleistocene glaciers have carved the terrain.
