The showy inflorescences of Lupinus nootkatensis are commonly seen in the Icelandic summer. However, this plant is native to North America. It has been introduced in the first half of the 20th century to support slope stabilization, land reclamation, and afforestation, but also turned out to be an invasive species requiring careful management.
