View from the Baldur ferry. In past centuries, this small island in Breiðafjörður used to be one of the cultural centres of Iceland. A monastery was founded in the late 12th century, but does not longer exist. In the early 21st century, the islands's houses are inhabited mainly during summer, when the place is popular also among tourists.
