This lava field in the N part of the Snæfellsnes peninsula formed approx. 4000 years ago. Lava was produced at four volcanic cones, three of which are shown in the upper centre of this scene, from the front to the back: Smáhraunakúla, Gráakúla (211 m), and Rauðakúla (379 m).
