Evening view from Hellissandur in SE direction to Snæfellsjökull (1446 m). This glacier-covered stratovolcano last erupted approx. 1800 years ago. It was considered the highest mountain of Iceland for many centuries and has become famous as the entry point to the centre of the Earth in Jule Verne's novel of 1864 and the movie of 1959.
