View from the vicinity of the Hellissandur camp site in SE direction to Snæfellsjökull (1446 m) at the W end of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. This glacier-covered stratovolcano last erupted approx. 1800 years ago.In clear weather conditions, it is visible from Reykjavik. Snæfellsjökull was considered the highest mountain of Iceland for many centuries and has become famous as the entry point to the centre of the Earth in Jule Verne's novel of 1864 and the related movie of 1959.
