Early morning view from Gmundnerberg over Traunsee in SE direction to the limestone and dolomite peaks of Traunstein (1691 m) on the left side and Erlakogel (1575 m) in the central background of the image. Traunsee - with some morning fog characteristic for this time of the year - represents another example of the numerous large glacial lake of Pleistocene origin at the N Alpine rim. Erlakogel, due to its profile shape, is locally known as Schlafende Griechin (literally: sleeping Greek lady).
