View over the karst plateau of the Dachstein mountains to Gjaidstein (2794 m) and Hoher Dachstein (2995 m). Despite plenty of precipitation, this highland is sparsely vegetated: water seeps into an extensive cave system, and soil formation is slow. Undergound drainage is also the reason that the plateau has not been dissected by rivers.
