Over centuries, the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina was characterized by the peaceful coexistence of Jews, Muslims, and Christians. The Roman Catholic Sacred Heart Cathedral in the historic centre of Sarajevo was built in the outgoing 19th century in a mixture of Neo-Gothic and Romanesque Revival styles.
