View from Lučki most to the reconstructed Stari most. The original bridge had crossed the Neretva river since the 16th century, when Mostar was part of the Ottoman Empire. It was destroyed in 1993 during the Croat-Bosniak War. The reconstructed bridge was completed in 2004 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. It has become at least as popular among the many tourists as the original had been.
