This bridge across the Neretva river goes back to the Ottoman era. The original structure was completed in 1683, but the arches were destroyed in 1945 by the retreating German army. Only the piers survived, carrying a temporary bridge for decades. Between 2003 and 2009, Stari most was rebuilt to its original appearance.
