View from Puy de Dôme over the Plateau des Dômes in E direction. The Limagne with Clermont-Ferrand and the Monts du Forez (1631 m) appear in the background. The whole area forms part of the European Cenozoic Rift System, the Limagne plain representing a graben between the horsts of Plateau des Dômes and Monts du Forez.
