This shopping road in the historic centre of Clermont-Ferrand forms a line of sight to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption of Clermont-Ferrand, built in Gothic style from the 13th century onwards but only completed at the turn of the 20th century. Like many historic buildings in town, also the cathedral is made of dark volcanic rock, reflecting the geological characteristics of the region.
