Puy de Crouel (427 m) forms the rest of a volcanic pipe in the E suburbs of Clermont-Ferrand. Its summit area allows for an excellent view over the city and all the way to the volcanoes of the Chaîne des Puys, some of them dating to the early Holocene. The lava dome Puy de Dôme (1465 m) is shown in the central background of the photo.
