View from Puy de Crouel in W direction to Clermont-Ferrand. The Plateau des Dômes, a tectonic horst, rises behind the escarpment of the Limagne Fault. It is topped by the volcanoes of the Chaîne des Puys, some of them dating to the early Holocene. The lava dome Puy de Dôme (1465 m) prominently appears in the central background.
