Late afternoon view from Jardin du Pharo in E direction to the Old Port of Marseille. This basin has served as the main harbour of the place for more than 2500 years, until gradually replaced by more modern facilities since the mid 19th century. In the early 21st century, it is primarily used as a marina and for other leisure activities. The harbour entrance is guarded by Fort du Saint-Jean on the left side and Fort Ganteaume on the right side.
