Le Gardon with Pont du Gard

WI_fr474.jpg

This well-preserved Roman aqueduct - one of the highest of those structures - was built to transport water across the Gardon river to the town of Nîmes. The structure most probably dates back to the period between 40-60 CE. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
