Rock of Cashel

WI_ei080.jpg

The limestone outcrop above today's town of Cashel was already used for the seat of a king in the 4th century and for a fortress in the 5th century. Most of the current buildings go back to the 12th and 13th century. The site is recognized as a prime example of medieval architecture and Celtic art.
