View from Lëkurësi Castle in NE direction to the town of Sarandë, located along the coast of the Ionian Sea. The place has been populated since ancient times, but has experienced a boom in tourism since the fall of communism in the country. This unofficial capital of the Albanian Riviera has become a popular destination also for foreign visitors. One of the consequences of this boom, however, is uncontrolled construction, putting the attractiveness of the place at risk.
