Leader landslide and dam |

The Kaikōura Earthquake of 14 September 2016 triggered tens of thousands of landslides, some of which formed landslide dams. The 6-8 million m³ Leader landslide was one of them, with Lake Rebecca evolving in the following weeks. The dam has been engineered and has not completely failed by 2026.
