Snowy Mountains

WI_nw000_508.jpg

View from the vicinity of Seaman's Hut in NE direction to Mt. Clarke (2101 m). The Snowy Mountains, despite being the highest mountain range in Australia, are characterized by rather gentle slopes and valleys, with the higher parts shaped by Pleistocene glaciers. The name of the range is related to the high amounts of snow it receives during the winter months, with some isolated snow patches persisting until the following summer.
