The Piazza del Popolo was one of the most important squares of Rome already in ancient times. View in southeastern direction along the Via del Corso. The two churches arranged in almost symmetric order are Santa Maria in Montesanto (left) and Santa Maria dei Miracoli (right), both built in the 17th Century. The appearance of the square itself goes back to the early 19th Century.
