The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican City is one of the largest and most important Roman Catholic churches in the World, even though it is not a cathedral. It was built from 1506 to 1626 in Italian Renaissance Style. St Peter's Square in front of the basilica was designed in the 17th Century. It is said to have a capacity of approx. 300,000 people.
