View from the southern slopes of Monte Pollino in southwestern direction to the Orsomarso Mountains. The depression of the Piano di Campotenese is most likely related to tectonic structures on the one hand, and to karst processes on the other hand. It is often referred to as a polje, a large-scale karstic hollow.
