Ötztal panorama with Köfels Rock Slide

View from Hemerkogel. The prehistoric Köfels Rock Slide, originating from the opposite slope, blocked the valley and dammed a lake in the area of today's basin of Längenfeld (left side of the image). The Ötztaler Ache eroded the deep Maurach Gorge through the rock slide deposit. Also the outlet of the Horlachtal Valley (lower right part of the image) was shaped by the rock slide and its consequences.
