Wildalpen | Rock avalanche panorama

View from Ebenstein over the deposit of the prehistoric Wildalpen rock avalanche in NW direction. This giant landslide, involving approx. 900 million cubic metres of limestone, occurred approx. 5900-5700 years ago. Brandstein (2003 m) and Schaufelwand are shown on the left side, Großer Griesstein (2023 m) on the right side, the Göstling Alps (Hochkar, 1808 m) in the central background, and Dürrenstein (1878 m) and Ötscher (1893 m) in the right background.
