White storks (Ciconia ciconia) are common and welcome guests in Rust. Returning from their winter refuge in Africa, they spend the spring and summer above the roofs of the small town at the shore of Neusiedler See. At this time of the year, tarious chimneys in the historic centre are crowned by stork nests.
