L'Aquila | Piazza del Palazzo panorama

This image was created more than four years after the catastrophic earthquake of 6 April 2009. The historic centre of L'Aquila still has the character of a ghost town, even though some cafés and hotels have reopened. Most buildings have been temporarily reinforced. Palazzo Margherita, lending the name to this square and dominating the scene, dates back to the 13th Century and housed the city administration before the earthquake.
