Ongiin Khiid | Panorama with destroyed monastery

WI_mo112.jpg

In this particularly arid part of the Gobi, vegetation concentrates to the valley bottom. The Buddhist monastery, extending on both sides of the valley formed by the river Ongiin Gol, dates back to the 18th century. It was destroyed in 1937 and partly restored in the 1990s.
