This Russian Orthodox cathedral at the NW bank of Moskva river was completed in 2000 on the grounds of a 19th century church of the same name, demolished in 1931. Religious activities were suppressed at that time, and religious symbols destroyed, as they were considered competitive to Communist ideas.
