The former saltpetre mine of Humberstone (in operation until 1961) was abandoned and the associated settlement represents a ghost town. The place was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with nearby Santa Laura and is open to visitors. The mine of Cala Cala in the background seems to be in operation.
