PN Lauca | Lago de Chungará and Volcán Parinacota

The Lago de Chungará (4520 m a.s.l.) has been impounded by the deposit of a 6 km³ rock/debris avalanche originating from a volcanically induced collapse of the slopes of the now dormant Volcán Parinacota (6348 m, reflecting in the lake) approx. 8000 years ago.
