Lago Llanquihue and Volcán Calbuco

WI_ch230c.jpg

Panoramic view from the SW slopes of Volcán Osorno with various volcanic cones to the valley of Río Petrohué on the left side, and Lago Llanquihue on the right side. The lake, one of the largest of Chile, fills a depression left by a Pleistocene glacier. The andesitic stratovolcano Calbuco (2015 m), shown in the right central background of the photo, is known for its very explosive eruptions, most recently in April 2015.
