This residential area was reconstructed after the Great Fire of Valparaíso of 12-16 April 2014. Fifteen fatalities were confirmed, 2500 houses destroyed, and 11,000 people left homeless. Spreading of the fire was favoured by gullies, such as the one shown in this photo, due to the abundance of combustible vegetation and garbage.
