Most Pamiri people follow the Ismaili branch of Shia Islam. Their Imam is referred to as the Aga Khan. The photo shows a picture of the 49th Aga Khan, Prince Shah Karim Al Husseini Aga Khan IV, who stands behind a huge number of socio-economic welfare projects in the Pamir and therefore has an extraordinarily high reputation.
