View north. The southern part of Montserrat was permanently evacuated after the reactivation of the Soufrière Hills Volcano in 1995. In those areas not directly affected by pyroclastic flows or lahars, buildings have fallen into disrepair and were partly overgrown by vegetation. The remnants of the village of Molyneaux can be seen in the foreground.
