View in northwestern direction, Centre Hills in the background. The reactivation of the Soufrière Hills Volcano in 1995 has resulted in major changes in the landscape in the following years and decades. From 1997 onward, pyroclastic flows and lahars have destroyed and buried villages such as Bethel and Harris as well as the W.H. Bramble Airport. The remnants of a sugar mill can still be seen in the central foreground of this photograph.
